I LOVE WASHI TAPE!
From the beginning we always knew how we wanted our wedding to look and feel and the decorations played a huge part in achieving the look. For me, it was important for us to put our own stamp on the wedding; it’s definitively all the little touches that make the overall feel of the day…

Decoration ideas would change daily and I spent many hours deciding what exactly I wanted (much to Fritz’s despair of me asking which shade he prefers!) I finally settled on what would work best and decided to buy some decorations and make others. I found loads of DIY tutorials on some fabulous blogs and set myself to work…Washi Tape literally became my best friend, there is nothing that little tape can’t transform!

#Giant Feather Heart
There is a beautiful fireplace with a gorgeous solid wooden shelf and a beautiful exposed brick wall at the venue and I knew I needed to make a feature of this wall by adorning it with decorations. I found a lovely diy tutorial on Bespoke Bride to make a heart shaped feather wreath. It was perfect I loved making the wreath, I just adapted the colours to my palette and voile!

#Favours/Place names
I decided to double up and make the favours tags and the name place setting cards at the same time. I found a lovely website that sold the packaging I was looking for. The Knot & Bow Company produced personalised tags, I just adapted them by using my faithful Washi Tape; this also ties in with the seating plan I’m creating.

#Garlands
We decided to have a wall of fairylights behind us for the ceremony. I wanted to create a backdrop to fit in between the blanket of lights, and decided to create garlands of mini colorful flags that would hang in between each strip of lighting. I brought some grey twine and several rolls of Washi Tape and 40 strips of individual hand made garlands later I had my backdrop!

#Vases
I have been collecting bottles for a few months now; I want to fill each bottle with dainty flowers and place on the beautiful wood shelf above the fireplace. Again, I decorated each bottle with my trusty Washi Tape – Just love that stuff!

There are definitely more diy projects to come… One of the biggest projects I’m making will be my ribbon chandeliers, which I’m planning on hanging from each table in the main room, will let you know how I get on!...

My blog has been sadly neglected for many, many months. Planning a wedding has consumed my life completely, but I love it! With this is mind and thinking about the reason why I decided to start my blog in the first place. I’ve decided I’m going to attempt a blog posting every 2 weeks from now up to the big day. I say ‘attempt’ because I will definitely try and give it my best shot, so here it goes…

A huge part of the planning process was finding the right photographer. I must have looked at over 50 photographers, but none seemed to stand out to me. That was, until I discovered ‘Hannah May’ As soon as I came across her work on my fav wedding blog Rock my Wedding, I was captured. I know it sounds silly but the images just spoke to me, and to my delight she was even hosting a competition, a photographers collection worth £1495! That was it. I yelled out to Fritz “we have to enter!” After entering, all fingers and toes were crossed… we sadly didn’t win but we did come 2nd HORRAY! She loved the sound and feel of our day and offered us £500 off one of her collections! We were sold! Hannah has been a pleasure to work with, friendly and relaxed, her passion for photography is true and it definitely shows through work. We can’t wait to have Hannah capture our day… and to be honest I think Fritz is just happy I’m no longer moaning about never finding the perfect photographer!
