I LOVE WASHI TAPE!
From the
beginning we always knew how we wanted our wedding to look and feel and the
decorations played a huge part in achieving the look. For me, it was important
for us to put our own stamp on the wedding; it’s definitively all the little
touches that make the overall feel of the day…
Decoration ideas
would change daily and I spent many hours deciding what exactly I wanted (much
to Fritz’s despair of me asking which shade he prefers!) I finally settled on
what would work best and decided to buy some decorations and make others. I found loads of
DIY tutorials on some fabulous blogs and set myself to work…Washi Tape
literally became my best friend, there is nothing that little tape can’t
transform!
#Giant Feather Heart
There is a beautiful fireplace with a gorgeous solid wooden shelf and a beautiful exposed brick wall at the venue and I knew I needed to make a feature of this wall by adorning it with decorations. I found a lovely diy tutorial on Bespoke Bride to make a heart shaped feather wreath. It was perfect I loved making the wreath, I just adapted the colours to my palette and voile!
#Favours/Place names
I decided to double up and make the favours tags and the name place setting cards at the same time. I found a lovely website that sold the packaging I was looking for. The Knot & Bow Company produced personalised tags, I just adapted them by using my faithful Washi Tape; this also ties in with the seating plan I’m creating.

#Garlands
We decided to
have a wall of fairylights behind us for the ceremony. I wanted to create a
backdrop to fit in between the blanket of lights, and decided to create
garlands of mini colorful flags that would hang in between each strip of
lighting. I brought some grey twine and several rolls of Washi Tape and 40
strips of individual hand made garlands later I had my backdrop!#Vases
I have been collecting bottles for a few months now; I want to fill each bottle with dainty flowers and place on the beautiful wood shelf above the fireplace. Again, I decorated each bottle with my trusty Washi Tape – Just love that stuff!
There are definitely more diy projects to come… One of the biggest projects I’m making will be my ribbon chandeliers, which I’m planning on hanging from each table in the main room, will let you know how I get on!...
